You cannot brick iPods. So no, you may think you screwed it up but theres always a solution

Yep full restore via iTunes I think, which is probably what I will do tonight if the AppStore is unvailed at the Apple WWDC in San Francisco today.

I've heard about this? What's happening?
Does it mean you will no longer be able to jailbreak ipods?

Well basically you have to use the new firmware 2.0 to use the appstore, however using some dev-programs, you can-dual boot 2 firwares like 2 Operating Systems on a PC. So you can have the nice Official Apple one with the app-store and the Unofficial Jailbroken one both on your iPod. Hopefully the dev-teams will Jailbreak 2.0 as well though, then theres no need for that.
The WWDC is happening at 7pm in the UK, you can catch live updates from www.macrumorslive.com or www.engadget.com.
