If you purchase an iPhone today, it will have FW 1.1.4 OOB (out of box) It will have Bootloader 4.6 and it will have Baseband 04.04.05_G. Fortunately, you can unlock this phone! Now dont go posting like a crazy person asking what to do etc. We will be glad to help you out. Just hold on there.
When you buy the 1.1.4 OOB, you DO NOT need to downgrade it to be able to install Installer.app. Currently, there is a Jailbreak solution for the 1.1.4 OOB. Still confused about what this all means? I posted a link earlier to explain all of this but it may seem as you have skipped over it. Go back to here http://www.hackint0sh.org/forum/showthread.php?t=14352 or go here http://www.hackint0sh.org/forum/show...hone+internals about seczone and bootloader.
To unlock your OOB 1.1.4 to use on any network, slevytem has created beautiful tutorials with pictures! Yes with pictures.
Here's a break-down of what you will have to do:

So, there are a couple of ways you can do this.
You can use Pwnage, iPlus, or iLiberty.
The difference is this:
----
Pwnage
Good: Downgrade and upgrade to 3.9Real, 3.9FB, 4.6Real
Do what you want!
Good:
- Allows you to downgrade to 3.9FakeBlank.
- FakeBlank is a custom made Bootloader which will always allow there to be an unlock
- Also gives you the option of keeping 4.6Bl with an unlock, only downgrading your baseband.
- You can choose your own payload ( settings ). There is an international and Brazil payload. Each payload is reflected through its keyboard, languages, stocks, weather, etc
Bad: On 3.9 FakeBlank, if you downgrade to 1.00 or 1.1.1 FW, you will end up getting 3.8BL. No one has heard of 3.8BL until this happened. It will mess up your iPhone

iLiberty
Good: Gives you the option to downgrade to 3.9BL and gives you the option of keeping 4.6BL with an unlock, only changing your Baseband
Bad: Same as iPlus
---
Independence
Good: Keeps it at 4.6BL and still unlocks. All-in-one Mac app
Bad: Only mac and for some, only stays at 4.6BL

Here is where you get them
Generally all iPhones created after week 08 have the newest firmware 1.1.4 Checking the week is easy:
Turn the iPhone box over and look at the Serial No. For example, my serial is 88803…All you have to do is look at the 4th and 5th number in that serial. I have a week 03 build. If you have a serial that is 08 and above, you have the newest firmware.
You can also check by:

If your iPhone is activated and jailbroken, just go to installer, add this source: http://www.trejan.com/irepo
